Finn R. Alden

I started my own company, Alden Integration, in Norway in December of 1996. When I got my first job in Ukiah, CA, USA, I was hired as a contractor and started my own company. I found it the easiest and most descriptive to keep the name that I already had.

Integration was chosen because integration means to make something work together, make whole.

Eid vidaregåande skule, with specialization in economy the 2nd year and computers the last year.

Distriktshøgskulen Møre og Romsdal, Molde, data & informatikk. (Junior college in Molde. Studied computers from autumn 1985 - spring 1987).

Odda Gymnas, gymnasfag (autumn 1992 - spring 1993). I used this year of extra education to have as a foundation for later studies.

Alden Integration (US)

Started the company in January 2006 and have been working as a consultant and web designer.

Worked as a contractor for Lechnowsky Technical Consulting from January to May 2006. My main responsibilities were computer consulting:

• Installing networks
• Configuring Windows 2000 server, domains and workgroups.
• Installing and configuring Windows 2003 servers and services.
• Reinstalling pcs with Windows 2000 or XP.
• Removing viruses from pcs and/or networks.

Respectech Inc. (USA)

Worked as a full time computer consultant for Respectech since January 2006 to present. First as a contractor, from May 2006 as an employee.

Alden Integration (January 1997 - present)

As the CEO and sole proprietor I have had the responsibility of all aspects of Alden Integration. My tasks have been:

• starting the company
• marketing my expertise to customers
• invoices and accounting
• updating my knowledge as computers and software continually change
• research, sourcing and matching the best hardware and software options to meet my customers needs

• Windows 2000/2003/XP (the same products that I have certification in)
• Office 2000/2003 use, installation and maintenance
• CompTIA A+ and
• other software.

Customers/projects

Datavikar/Olsten/Ajilon (August 1996 - 2001)

I have had several long term customers such as Friundervisninga in Bergen, Merkantilt institutt, Getronics and DnB. Have specified below some of the work that I have been doing.

Getronics (August 1996 - 1998)

Worked as a consultant with their customers and as a technician to repair PC's with hardware or software problems. My work as a consultant was mainly with Windows NT and Windows 2000 servers. The work varied from searching for problems in networks and servers to new installations of servers and workstations.

Xtra ( 2002 - 2003 )

Have had some projects for them in Bergen.

Worked with Datacard (European certification for basic use of PC, Windows XP and Office 2003) teaching.

Teaching in:

• CompTIA A+ technical and software certification
• Office 2000 and XP, normal use and automatic installation from servers to workstations
• Windows 98/NT/2000/XP, use, installation and maintenance. Also by using Active Directory policies.
• Had the first four seminars in bringing people through a training where the students had to go through MCSE in 9 months. Took the corresponding exams.
• Windows 2000 server and workstation teaching equivalent to the exams 70-210 and 70-215. Windows 2000 curriculum was changed to Windows XP when it became available.
• Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. Teaching from January to June 2005 for people that sought retraining to move to a new profession. The curriculum would make it possible for them to become MCSA.

Work before 1997

Forlaget Vidd & Visdom ANS (January 1998 - autumn 2001). Partnered in a small publishing company.

Telenor Comma AS (1993 - 1996) Stavanger, Norway.

• Teaching and planning seminars for two years. Phillips Petroleum was implementing a maintenance system called Passport for 1600 employees. I worked together with 8 other teachers and had the responsibility of planning the seminars using Microsoft Project.
• One year with maintenance of the internal computer network and some of the company's customers (NOPEF and NOHA Norway AS) networks. The work was mainly to take care of networks with Microsoft Windows NT 3.1, NT 3.5 and Novell 3.12 on the servers and NT Workstation or Windows 95 on the clients. One of the customers had Banyan Vines network.
• Had the responsibility of building a lab for the employees where we had a multi-boot server, workstation and books on all different topics.

Stryn kommune (August 1993 - November 1993) Stryn, Norway.
Worked with teaching children in basic school and also looked after the computers in all the schools I was working in. Mainly removing viruses and installing new programs.

Hardanger Vekst AS (January 1989 - July 1992) Odda, Norway.
Installation, maintenance, teaching and computer consultant. Had the responsibility for the network (Banyan Vines) in the company and also teaching computer to the schools students. Worked also for other companies that had IBM token-ring and Lantastic.

Military service in the Norwegian Coast Artillery (autumn 1987 - autumn 1988)
Nes Fort, Lødingen. Worked with computers on my time off. (Education and programming in DataEase).
